The Center by Lendistry (TCbL): What led you to start your business?
Cecilio Mills (CM): I started my career as a teacher, working with youth in juvenile hall then students with special needs. After a few years, I left education to become a project manager in the corporate sector. I realized that I had the skills in project management and the gift of teaching, which led me to start CAT.

TCbL: What did you gain through The Center’s Digital Growth Accelerator?
CM: The Digital Growth Accelerator taught me that before you can truly have a strategy, you must understand the customer and the problem you are solving for them. I gained the ability to have sharper business acumen when it comes to speaking with high-level clients, and equally from a financial perspective. I also learned about SEO and the importance of ranking high in search results. We’ve implemented search engine optimization (SEO) strategies from DGA which led us to getting the Golden State Warriors as a client!

TCbL: Imagine you have a time machine that can take you back to the day you started your entrepreneurial journey. What advice would you give your younger self, knowing what you know now?
CM: If I had a time machine, I would tell my younger self to focus more on data collection, process documentation, and journaling. Then, writing the book will be much easier. As a business owner, it’s important to document a standard of operating procedure (SOP) to train new hires and be able to scale and grow the business.
