The Center by Lendistry (TCbL): What led you to start your business?
Candace Mitchell Harris (CMH): After receiving many requests for business guidance, I started CVM Worldwide to help entrepreneurs get unstuck and reach profitability and long-term sustainability. My first client was Morehouse College to start the Ascend Atlanta program, a technology startup and small business support ecosystem for minority-led companies=. Collectively, we helped drive business growth for 186 minority-owned businesses, created 425 jobs, generated $27.1M revenue, and raised over $15M capital.
TCbL: What aspects of your collaboration with The Center do you find most rewarding?
CMH: I enjoy our shared mission of providing technical assistance to businesses to help them execute and close the gaps to success. It’s important to provide the resources that can help them reach profitability and long-term sustainability. Having synergy and shared values with The Center means that I’m in alignment with my purpose, which is to help other entrepreneurs grow their businesses through accelerator programs like BeltLine Business Ventures. It’s a win-win partnership!
TCbL: What does Black History Month mean to you?
CMH: Black History Month is a time to celebrate our achievements, but more importantly, examine our contributions to the progression of our culture as a whole. I celebrate by honoring the everyday people making Black history like my grandparents. They paved the way for me to become an entrepreneur and instilled the family values needed to prosper and stay resilient.
